NYC is house to many wonderful parks. Whether you want to experience little, manicured spots or bigger ones, there are choices of all sizes and shapes all over the city. Central park specs 843 acres of public area in the center of Manhattan with seven bodies of water contained within its boundaries. Designed by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmstead, Central Park primary opened in the 1859 winter. This park is a wonderful contrast to NYC popular image as a solid jungle – big open spaces, lush greenery and natural beauty dominate this beautiful park.
Madison Square Park
This park is placed in the Flatiron District between 5th Avenues and Madison, running from 23rd to 26th streets. Anyway, this park has been a free open area since 1686; it officially became a park in 1847, and was tiled for President James Madison. Today, many tourists to Madison Square Park dine on concerts and enjoy burgers, and enjoy many public programs organized by the Park administration.
Hudson River Park
This park consists of 550 acres of waterfront park area running from Battery Park to fifty Ninth Street. The park has five miles of bike directions running along the Hudson River and hosts a range of events, mainly in the hot months, including free film screenings with their RiverFlicks series.
Brooklyn Bridge Park
Placed along the downtown Brooklyn waterfront, this park is growing green area providing visitors a big range of diversions, including a wonderful playground at Pier six, picnicking, ongoing events and spectacular views.
The high line
The high line is placed along Manhattan West Side and provides visitors wonderful landscaped areas, best vistas and a welcome oasis. When the high line is completed, it will distance 1.5 miles from the Meatpacking area to Hell Kitchen/Clinton Hill.
Placed in Brooklyn, prospect park 585 acres of area attract over seven million guests a year. Prospect Park specs a range of events, including Metropolitan Opera in the Park and Philharmonic in the parks in the summer. Prospect Grand Army Plaza Park is the place of a wonderful annual New Year eve celebration, packed with fireworks.
